About the Journal
The Indian Journal of Hospital Pharmacy (IJHP) was established by the Indian Hospital Pharmacists Association (IHPA), the national professional body representing hospital pharmacists in India. Under the leadership of Dr. B.D. Miglani, the journal has been continuously published for over five decades. For the past eight years, it has been published by the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, with Dr. N. Udupa serving as editor.
The IHPA is dedicated to:
- Providing a professional forum for hospital pharmacists to secure their rightful place in the healthcare system.
- Promoting and developing the practice of pharmacy.
- Enhancing the knowledge and skills of hospital pharmacists.
- Disseminating professional scientific knowledge through journals, newsletters, and mass information technology.
- Upholding dignity and ethical practices within the profession.
- Striving for societal recognition and fostering relationships with other professional bodies.
The Journal of Hospital Pharmacy (JOHP) is another significant publication in the field. Launched with the blessings of former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, it is a quarterly, peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research articles, reviews, and case reports in areas such as clinical pharmacology, pharmacy practice, and pharmacovigilance. The JOHP is recommended by the Pharmacy Council of India, indexed by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), and listed in various databases, including Index Copernicus and Publons.
Both journals play a crucial role in advancing the practice of hospital pharmacy in India by providing platforms for research dissemination, professional development, and the promotion of ethical practices within the healthcare system.
